Anime release date and cast confirmed with new trailer

The hugely popular “Spy x Family” manga series will finally have an anime next year, with the release date confirmed in the recent trailer!

One of the biggest and most popular manga series to never receive an animated adaptation was Tatsuya Endo’s “Spy x Family”… until now.

Spy x Family is an action comedy series set in a “cold war-like state”, where our main protagonist Loid Forger (Lloyd Forger in some translations) leads a dangerous life as a spy.

However, in order to accomplish his spy mission, he marries an assassin named Yor and adopts a young child named Anya who can read minds.

Over the weekend of Halloween, it was revealed that the hit series Spy x Family will be hitting television networks around the world, with confirmation from the production and cast crew.

Today, during the Jump Festa 2022 event in Japan, a new trailer was shared that included the release date for the Spy x Family animated adaptation!

When will Spy x Family anime be released?

In November 2021, the official press release for the animated adaptation of Spy x Family announced that the series would be released in 2022.

Today, Spy x Family was the first major panel to go live on the first day of the Jump Festa 2022 event in Japan.

Not only did the production team share a new PV trailer for the series, but confirmed that the anime will premiere on the spring mailing list in April 2022.

Unfortunately, no specific release date has been revealed, but fans should expect the series to air in the first two weeks of April 2022.

At the time of writing, the associated international streaming platform has not been shared, but fans should expect the series to air simultaneously on Crunchyroll or Funimation, both of which have reported on the recent announcement.

The first actor confirmed …

The first voice actor to be cast in Spy x Family is for the lead role of Loid Forger, Takuya Eguchi.

Eguchi is an anime industry veteran, who made his debut in 2008 in the Golgo 13 series. The 34-year-old has since built a stellar career with notable roles in Sword Art Online (Ducker), Haikyu (Yuuji Terushima), KonoSuba (Kyoya Mitsurugi), That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Soei), Given (Akihiko Kaji), Fruits Basket (Kakeru Manabe) and Tokyo Revengers (Shuji Hanma).

Other works include Eden of the East (Satoshi Osugi), Kuroko’s Basketball (Shinji Koganei), My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (Hachiman Hikigaya) and Baki (Kaoru Hanayama).

Alongside Eguchi there will be Atsumi Tanezaki as Anya Forger, whom fans may recognize as Mujika from The Promised Neverland, Vivy from Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song, Nikki from Dr Stone, and Juno from Beastars.

The family will consist of Saori Hayami as Yor Forger, known for playing Yamato in One Piece, Emma from Tsukimichi and Maria from My Next Life as a Villainess.
