RoundCube Webmail is a browser-based email client that is open source software, free to download and use. RoundCube’s interface is the same as some desktop email client applications with all the functionality to provide an email solution. Being a webmail solution, it needs a LAMPP server (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP and PhpMyAdmin (optional)). It includes open source libraries such as PEAR, IMAP and Googiespel. The user interface is designed with XHTML + CSS2. Additionally, it is an IMAP client that supports multiple languages including MIME, address book, and folder operations.

To note: The steps below for Roundmail will be the same to access the horde webmail connection with or without going through Cpanel. You can also download Roundmail to install it on a local server.
Here we will show how to access RoundCube webmail from Cpanel webmail connection:
Step 1: Log in to CPanel
If you have already created an email account, you can skip to step. Otherwise, follow it from here. Connect to your hosting server CPanel. Scroll to E-mail section and click on the option called Mail accounts.
Step 2: Create an email account for Webmail
To access Cpanel Web Mail, first we need an email Account. To do this click on the To create button and go to the next step.
Step 3: Email account for use with Roundcube webmail
Now from Domain in the drop-down menu, select the domain with which you want your email id: for example, [email protected]
In the username section, add the username you want to use in your email address. For example, in [email protected]; the X Y Z is the username while example.com is the domain. So you need to enter the first part of the email address before the @.
Finally, add the password of the the username of the created email address and after that click on the To create button at the bottom.
Step 4: Access Roundcube Webmail from Cpanel
After creation there is two ways to access Webmail. One comes directly from Cpanel email account section and the other uses Webmail directly in the browser. Let’s see first how to access Rouncube from Cpanel.
So, once you create an email account using Cpanel, it will appear in the Email Accounts section. There at the start of each email address you will see an option Check mail, click on it and it will automatically open the CPanel webmail login page to access all e-mails either by using Webmail Application such as horde Where Round cube.
Step 5: How to access Webmail without Cpanel
If you want to connect to Roundcube to access your emails without going through Cpanel and all other options, just use your Server IP / domain name in the same way Cpanel webmail port that is to say 2096 port to access via HTTP or 2095 access port using the HTTPS protocol.
For example, your domain name is yourdomainname.com, now to directly access Roundcube webmail. In your browser Url item type yourdomainname.com:2096 for HTTP or yourdomainname.com:2095 for access to the secure HTTPS connection. This will directly open the Webmail login window.
Now enter the email address and password you created in Cpanel shown in the first steps of this article.
Step 6: Set the default Roundcube webmail application
Once you connection To Webmail, two or three webmail applications- Horde, Round cube Where SquirrelMail would be available. Now, if you don’t want to see them all every time, log in Cpanel Web Mail, do one of them like Default webmail application for your emails. As we are here for Roundcube, so to make it default click on the option “Define by default”Given under the logo of the same.
Step 7: Welcome to Roundcube webmail login
Finally, the Roundcube Webmail application interface page will appear. Now start accessing your emails like a pro. Also, after setting Roundcube as the default webmail application, every time you log into the Cpanel webmail login page, it will redirect you to the RoundCube webmail application client page.
Step 8: Change the default Cpanel webmail application
In the future, if we want to change the default webmail app from Round cube To Horde Where SquirrelMail, just click on the The arrow icon to the right of the email id top right. After that, click on the Star icon at Webmail Application, you want to do fault. For example, in the screenshot below, the Round cube is a default webmail application and if i want to change to Horde then need to click on the Star icon at the beginning of it.
Likewise, we can access the horde and SquirrelMail webmail apps from the Cpanel Webmail login page to make it a default email app.
