The Tupelo Community Theater sets the stage for “Deathtrap”, “Sherk the Musical” – The Oxford Eagle

The Tupelo Community Theater is delighted to announce its production of the mysterious murder “Deathtrap” on January 27 at 7:30 pm and January 29 at 2:00 pm at the Lyric Theater located at 201 N Broadway in downtown Tupelo.

Comfortably settled in his charming Connecticut home, Sidney Bruhl, a successful Broadway thriller writer, struggles through a period of crisis that has resulted in a series of failures and a lack of funds.

A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a seminary student he leads at a nearby university – a thriller Sidney immediately recognizes as potential Broadway success. Sidney’s plan, devised with the help of his wife, is to collaborate with the student for a co-credit. Where is it?

DEATHTRAP delivers devilishly ingenious twists and sudden, hilarious shocks in such abundance that audiences will be mesmerized until the very last moment.

Everyone’s Favorite Ogre ends the TCT season with this hilarious stage version of the musical based on the Oscar-winning blockbuster movie. “Once upon a time there was a little ogre named Shrek.” And so begins the story of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a sarcastic donkey and a fiery princess who resists his rescue. Add in an angry villain, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairytale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a true hero. Luckily there is one on hand … and his name is Shrek. Irreverently fun for the whole family, Shrek proves that beauty really is in the eye of the ogre.

The cast consists primarily of adults eighteen and over, with 3-4 minor roles for children 8-14. Dancers and ensembles aged 15 to 17 will be selected as needed. The play will be directed by Christi Houin and the production dates are April 28-30, 2022. For more information, email [email protected] or call the TCT office at 662-844-1935.
